Why Millcreek Matters
Millcreek has been my family's home for generations, and I want to make a community that can be home to future generations to come. However, Millcreek in its current state isn’t sustainable in the long run.
When I was a kid, my parents would complain about the fast drivers on our road and the lack of side walks. Once I reached high school, It was clear to me then that if I wanted to move out after I graduated I would have to move somewhere other than Millcreek, something that saddened me. And as of last year, before I decided to run I was completely ignorant to how many of the changes I wanted to see start at a local level. All of these issues, still remain today. I still don’t have sidewalks on my street, I still can’t afford to move anywhere in Millcreek, and while I’m now aware of how to get involved, many of my friends and residents within Millcreek don’t.
We have had amazing leaders here who have led this city well in its first 9 years of life, but it’s time for someone new to help lead Millcreek. It’s time for a young voice with fresh ideas to take charge in creating a sustainable city. A city respectful of the past, yet prepared for the future. A city built to allow families to move into neighborhoods that are green, open, and safe. A city built to be affordable for everyone, so that whether you are just leaving the nest or are starting a family there’s a place for you. A city working towards informing their people on the importance of local government so that no voice goes unheard. Millcreek has been, and always should be a quiet, kind community focused on helping each other the best we can, and as a City Councilmember that is what I intend to do.
