How can we reduce the cost of living?
Millcreek’s housing and rental prices have steadily increased making it harder for young families to own homes. In addition, many homes available are purchased by investors and turned into rentals. Meanwhile, most of our apartments are luxury units with high rents that again make them out of reach to many people. The problem is compounded by limited land for new housing and a permitting process that slows down development and drives up costs. As a result, the affordable housing we need now takes far too long to get built.
But Millcreek doesn’t have to be this way. I see a future where young families can afford to buy homes, where kids play outside on safe streets, and where renters have access to affordable, low-rise apartments close to work. As your Millcreek council member, I would:
Support developments that are affordable, low-impact, and respectful of neighborhood character.
Ensure projects include enough units to make a real impact on housing costs.
Streamline red tape and permitting to speed up construction.
Create pathways for renters to move into apartments designed for their needs, freeing up single-family homes for families.
